Storage and Dosing System, Piping, and Insulation for Hazardous Substances (Novidon)
The customer
Novidon is a company specialized in sustainable starch solutions, primarily by utilizing by-product starch from the potato processing industry. They process this starch into biodegradable adhesives and industrial glues, which are used in various sectors such as food, pet food, and packaging.
Purpose
Capacity Expansion with a New Storage and Dosing System and Reactor Modifications for Starch Slurry Processing.
Problem-solution
Initially, our collaboration with Novidon focused on chemical storage and dosing. However, after our first discussions, it became clear that we could support them on multiple levels, leading to an expanded project scope. Novidon entrusted us with the complete engineering of the installation.
The system consists of various components designed to process starch slurry into a specialized adhesive, requiring the use of multiple chemical liquids.
1) Storage & Dosing System for Hazardous Substances
To ensure safe storage and dosing of these hazardous chemicals, we installed:
- A double-walled storage tank equipped with a gas scrubber, leak detection, radar system, and overfill protection.
- A smaller double-walled tank connected to an IBC, integrated with a pump cabinet for safe and controlled transfer.
- A GRP platform allowing safe IBC transfer via the pump cabinet into the smaller double-walled tank.
2) Reactor Modifications for Starch Slurry Processing
Each 100 m³ reactor was retrofitted with the necessary connections, pumps, and sensors, resulting in a fully automated process controlled from the central control room. This led to:
- Improved process control & precision
- Increased dosing efficiency
- Enhanced worker safety by minimizing manual handling

Production
✔ Custom manufacturing of storage tanks, pump cabinets, and prefabricated components (such as the GRP platform and caged ladder) in our workshop, ensuring an efficient on-site assembly.
Installation & Assembly
- Delivery & installation of all equipment and systems
- Piping installation for both indoor & outdoor sections:
• Stainless steel for non-chemical parts
• Double-walled plastic for hazardous substances - Insulation & heat tracing where necessary
Commissioning & Support
- Our service technician provided on-site support during the startup of the installation.
