Supply of Storage Tanks for VEG-I-TEC
The customer
VEG-i-TEC is a research center for the vegetable and potato processing industry at Universiteit Gent, supported by Vlakwa, VITO, Flanders’ FOOD, and Howest. Processes developed at the laboratory level (by both companies and research groups) are translated here to a scale representative of the vegetable and potato processing industry.
Purpose
To conduct research and analyses, VEG-i-TEC required storage tanks for water collection, such as water sourced from companies for testing and analysis.
Problem-solution
CGK supplied a total of 10 storage tanks of 10m³, in which this water can be stored.
Special Features of This Installation:
- The tanks were placed in the basement of the brand-new building.
- The standard height was adjusted according to the available space. Due to the limited height in the basement, the tanks are shorter than their diameter.
- They were installed before the start of the new construction, as placement afterward would have been significantly more expensive.
- For the research, it is important that the different water sources (from various origins) do not mix. For this reason, each tank is equipped with a sloped bottom with a significant incline. This ensures that the tanks do not retain any residues after emptying.
- Each tank has a pre-installed connection, allowing for the future installation of a spray ball if needed.
The remaining sanitary and electrical installations were carried out by the main contractor.
