Optimization of the drainage system with fixed piping in stainless steel (Induss)

The customer
Induss provides tailor-made process water solutions for industrial companies, focusing on water production, reuse, and purification.
Purpose
Induss, a long-time loyal customer, had an existing filter setup with four filters. When draining the filters, the existing drainage channel sometimes couldn't handle the flow rate, causing flooding in the production area. As a temporary solution, the customer installed flexible hoses to provide additional drainage capacity.
After a successful test, Induss relied on our team to replace these flexible hoses with a permanent solution: fixed piping in stainless steel 316, DN200 Schedule 10.
Problem-solution
Given the clean production environment and epoxy-coated floor, causing any damage was out of the question. That’s why we proposed a 3D scan as the basis for the design. This offered Induss several key advantages:
- Perfect fit thanks to millimeter precision
- No disruption to production processes
- No damage to the epoxy floor
- No unnecessary equipment or on-site welding
- Minimal time on-site
With the 3D scan, we were able to fully prefabricate the piping system in our workshop. It was then installed on concrete supports, coated with epoxy to prevent rust formation on the support structures. The entire setup, including the supports and reinforcement, was integrated into the 3D model.
Project Execution in Two Phases
After completing the 3D scan, we executed the project in two key phases:
- Prefabrication & transport of the piping system
- Installation of the concrete supports & on-site assembly
Thanks to this thorough preparation, we reduced the initial on-site installation time from 2.5 weeks to just 2 days—one day per two filters.
There was no compromise on quality either: All welds were performed by our certified welders, who undergo requalification every two years.
