Containment and extinguishing water collection storage essential oils (Fairoils - Ghislenghien)
The customer
The Walloon company Fairoils - located in the brand-new Ghislenghien industrial zone - is active in the production of high-quality essential and vegetable oils.
Purpose
Belgian environmental legislation mandates that fixed installations containing flammable substances must be housed within a local containment area for leakage management purposes
Problem-solution
Essential oils from Africa arrive at Fairoils in cubitainers where they are repackaged. The specific processing of the oils makes them flammable, which is why the storage area had to be enclosed by law.
To provide additional environmental protection, we went for an extended solution with firewater collection on top of that..
CGK stood in for:
- encapsulating the entire storage area so that any leaks are captured.
- the installation of a semi-automatic liquid barrier at the entrance and exit of the repository:
- In case of fire, the sprinklers activate, allowing the extinguishing water to mix with the oils. This contaminated extinguishing water can thus harm employees and the environment. When the liquid barrier closes, the water cannot flow outside the storage area and we avoid seepage into the ground.
- The barrier features leak and liquid detection.
- It closes automatically, opening is done manually.
- By linking to the fire alarm centre, the fire brigade is automatically notified in case of fire.
- CGK works exclusively with the best quality liquid barriers from German manufacturer Thomas.
