Installation of containment barriers (Brenntag)
The customer
Brenntag is a market leader in the distribution of chemicals in the BENELUX.
Purpose
Brenntag values safety. For the installation of containment barriers, they knocked on CGK's door.
Problem-solution
Containment barriers are designed to make an entire site or certain parts (e.g. doorway, gate or passageway) fluid-tight.
1) When a fire breaks out in the building where Brenntag's chemicals are stored, the sprinklers kick in. The extinguishing water contaminated with chemicals must not simply seep into the ground. After all, this can cause major damage to the environment.
2) Any chemical leaks are captured to protect employees and the environment.
CGK installed semi-automatic firewater containment barriers at the building's 5 doorways:
All barriers are 400 mm high.
The longest barrier is 6 metres.
When the barrier had to span more than 6 metres, we opted for barriers on both sides of the doorway (also because of the limited height).
Each containment barrier is equipped with leak detection. When it detects liquid/droplets, the barriers close automatically.
We work exclusively with the best quality containment barriers from German manufacturer Thomas.
