Water plant expansion: customization from inside to outside (Azulatis)

Purpose

On behalf of Azulatis, CGK Group collaborated on the further expansion of the water treatment plant at IFF Genencor in Bruges. Azulatis supplies process water to Genencor, and the existing plant was expanded to meet the increasing demand.

Problem-solution

The project was carried out in close consultation with Azulatis, who provided the design, engineering, and instrumentation.

We were responsible for the complete assembly of the interior and exterior installations, as well as supplying the piping, support and customized components.

As many parts as possible were prefabricated in our workshop and, thanks to the prelimenary 3D scan, we managed to fit everything together smoothly right away.

Indoor installations:

• RO skid and ultrafiltration plant.
  This plant removes all solid particles from the water and provides very high-quality water. CGK handled the entire hydraulic connection to all components required for water treatment.
  
• Flocculator (own construction)
  This plant - manufactured entirely by us in HDPE - helps remove dirty particles from the water. By adding a substance, these particles clump together, making them easier to filter.
  
• Custom-built buffer tank (HDPE 40 mm)
  We designed a sturdy tank with wall thickness 40 mm that fits perfectly in limited space, with high flow capacity.
  
• Old tank, new function
  An existing CGK tank was given a new lease of life: equipped with a new manhole and aeration, ready to handle higher flow rates.
  
• Stainless steel collector DN 300
  Manufactured in our workshop and assembled on site, as were the connections with DN 225 PE pipes.
  
• Supporting structure and steel construction
  Galvanized steel support structures were fully customized and assembled by our construction team.

Outdoor installations:

Considerable investment in new infrastructure was also made outside.

• Prefabricated support structure in stainless steel and valve rack
  Pre-assembled in the workshop, perfectly fitted on site.
  
• Stainless steel piping and collector
  CGK also supplied the outdoor piping and connected it to the pump group.
  
• Pump cabinet and base relocated
  With an eye for precision and space optimization.
  
• Separate drainage system
  Because wastewater and rainwater are disposed of separately at IFF Genencor , we installed plastic eco-barriers at the unloading ramp to create a containment system. In this way, contamination can be avoided.

The entire assembly took place during planned downtime and went flawlessly. Thanks to good preparation, internal cooperation and customized solutions, we delivered a sustainable hydraulic expansion for Azulatis.
