The customer

Verhoeve Milieu & Water is an expert in the treatment of contaminated sites and designs solutions for complex soil and water issues.

Purpose

In large construction projects, groundwater lowering is an essential step to allow concrete to be poured for further building work. However, before the lowered groundwater can be discharged in compliance with environmental regulations, it must first be treated. Especially in light of the PFAS issue, stricter rules have been implemented to manage groundwater responsibly.

Verhoeve enlisted our team to provide a solution for temporarily and efficiently collecting the groundwater, which can then be treated if necessary.

Problem-solution

  • CGK Group was responsible for creating the 3D models and technical drawings of the storage tanks, based on the P&ID provided by the customer.
  • In our workshop in Antwerp, we manufactured three single-walled HDPE storage tanks. These serve as temporary storage facilities for the groundwater (see photos: the black tanks with the green tarpaulin roof). Samples are taken from these tanks to determine whether further water treatment is recommended. If necessary, the contaminated groundwater is further treated with activated carbon filters in the nearby tanks.
  • Self-installation by the customer: The customer collected the finished tanks themselves and carried out the installation of the tanks and the required bunding.
