Plant to dilute NaOH
The customer
A Hainaut company active in the food and beverage industry. Due to its sensitive combination of food and chemistry, this company prefers to remain anonymous.
Purpose
Dilute the NaOH to clean plants from 50 to 29%.
Problem-solution
- A cost-benefit analysis showed that 29% was better. CGK Group manufactured 2 double-walled tanks: 1 of 45 m³ for the NaOH 50% and 1 of 29 m³ for the NaOH 29%. The largest tank received insulation and heating so that the NaOH does not solidify at -15°C. The smallest tank had no extras, because legally not needed. Both tanks did get ultrasonic level measurement, leak detection, overfill protection and GRP platforms/cage ladders.
- Next to the tank came a double-walled, insulated mixing cabinet to dilute the NaOH 50% with water to 29%. Flow meters and controllers optimize the flow rate, a dosing cabinet with piping brings the NaOH 29% to the consumers. To rule out drastic NaOH shortages such as production stoppages, the mixing cabinet has 2 pump circuits. In case of a failure, this switches to another pump.
- CGK Group also installed an insulated safety shower, for operators and truck drivers.
- The entire project was developed in-house and installed on site. Piping and construction included, of course, from plastic to stainless steel.
