Non-slip GRP gratings (Station Ronse)
The customer
An assignment for Franki ((part of Willemen Group), active in civil engineering and the construction and renovation of buildings.
Purpose
As part of the renovation works in the station area (streets and bridge) in Ronse, our team was responsible for renewing the service path along the tracks.
Problem-solution
For the new service path, we deliberately chose not to use concrete again, but glass-fibre reinforced plastic.
Why? Because when it rained heavily it was often flooded and also slippery, but also because GRP is a much lighter material.
- GRP is highly resistant to all weather conditions.
- GRP is not painted or treated and requires no maintenance.
- The GRP gratings have a quartz coating, which prevents slipping.
- Glass fibre reinforced plastic does not conduct, which is very important in this situation, as there are several electricity cables running under the path.
- The mini meshes in the path ensure optimal water drainage.
- The gratings rest on plastic tile supports for optimum coverage.
