Storage tank with platform & cage ladder (Solae)

The customer
Ypres-based Solae, a subsidiary of DuPont, is a market leader in soy protein isolates for the food industry.
Purpose
A double-walled storage tank for the water treatment plant.
Problem-solution
Problem
Within wastewater treatment, both FeCl3 and PAC are used. 2 flocculates that bind suspended solids in wastewater to themselves until flocs form, which then settle for filtration.
Solution
- CGK Group built a 45 m³ HDPE tank in its workshop, with a cage ladder in GRP and railings in polyester. For optimum safety, the tank roof was given an anti-slip treatment.
- A PVC/GVK pipe leaves the tank, with fiberglass-reinforced polyester and a thermoplastic liner and PVC. So that pipe strength is optimal, as is chemical resistance. Pipes, flanges and fittings were connected by welding/laminating the thermoplastic liner via a hand or mirror weld. This created a piping system with safety factor 6. All flush lines were welded in HDPE.
- Finally, a pump cabinet was incorporated to dispense the iron trichloride. The pump cabinet contains 2 parallel pumps, for sufficient backup. This entire project was also set up on site.
