HDPE buffer tank in earthquake-prone region (Siemens Watertechnology)

The customer
Siemens Watertechnology provides water treatment products and services and operates in the U.S., Germany, Turkey and Belgium.
Purpose
A buffer tank in a Turkish, earthquake-prone region.
Problem-solution
Problem
Procter & Gamble, a client of Siemens Watertechnology, wanted a buffer tank in HDPE for hot demineralized water. But constructing a plastic tank for an earthquake-prone area requires special calculations.
Solution
- CGK Group first knocked on the door of German research centers with experience in such calculations. Afterwards, a 45 m³ double-walled PE tank was built, as was the accompanying piping.
- The buffer tank was given an insulating layer so that the stored demineralized water remains within its temperature. CGK Group completed the job with a stainless steel platform and cage ladder on the roof. The entire project was completed within the promised 3 weeks.
