The customer
Duvel Moortgat is a well-known brewery with beers such as Duvel, Maredsous and Vedett.
Purpose
A filling cabinet with pump to empty bulk trucks of chemicals.
Problem-solution
Problem
Duvel Moortgat already had storage tanks with NaOH and HCl, each filled via a compressor on the truck. The overpressure pushes the chemicals toward the filling cabinet, a filling process that is entirely in the hands of the driver. But the impact on the operator's plant is real: the pressure remains uncontrolled and the response to an overfill is slower.
Solution
- CGK Group installed a filling cabinet made of PE and conceived them with a transfer pump and with PPEsuch as an acid-resistant suit, a pair of gloves and a protective mask. A transparent hatch keeps the inside visible while keeping any liquid spills inside. The cabinet is even compatible with a padlock and can be closed during the filling process.
- Thanks to the transfer pump, the operator gains control over the filling process and thus his installation. A frequency control regulates the flow rate, automatic purge valves keep it tidy and pressure is measured continuously.
- CGK Group installed a PLC for precise process control and display. Result? The flow rate is more constant and the scrubber better neutralizes HCl vapors. Moreover, when the filling process ends, the air flow is much smaller.
