Zoutman 9

Every year, ZOUTMAN uses about 35,000m³ of water for their production process (at their site in Roeselare). Because raw sea salt contains residues such as sand, shells, etc., it is necessary to rinse the sea salt thoroughly with water.

The installation of the new Ekopak brine plant allows Zoutman to reuse this process water & brine.

CGK Group stood in as supplier for Ekopak.

We successfully delivered 8 agitators mounted on 5 plastic carriers.

Additional challenges?

  • Corrosive environment: all materials had to withstand ZOUTMAN's corrosive environment.
  • Temperature variations: The agitators are located inside a building where mixing temperatures vary from 5°C in winter to 25°C in summer. This placed additional demands on materials and construction.
  • Specific colour and coating requirements: The client required all engines to meet specific colour and coating requirements.

Oplossingen

  • Motor shafts and impeller blades: manufactured from high-grade stainless steel 316L for excellent resistance to rust and wear, to ensure durability and reliability, even in changing temperatures.
  • Plastic carriers: designed with a flat bottom for extra stability and optimal mixing results.
  • Baffles: specially designed and installed in the tanks to match the proposed impeller blades for efficient mixing performance.
  • Electric motors: painted in RAL1015 and coated with C4 to ensure durability and corrosion protection.
Zoutman 10

Polymer installation - 3m³

Medium

Polymer with a viscosity of 1000 cP and a density of 1000 kg/m³.

Current installation

  • Tank: 2 m³ (smaller than the new tank)
  • Motor: 0.75 kW / 1500 rpm
  • Impeller blade: running at 108 rpm (axis/impeller blade was an internal project of the customer and no data are available).

Customer request

Increase impeller blade speed to 120 rpm.

Current installation

The new flocculator will be an exact copy of the existing installation.

  • Tank: 4 rectangular compartments, 1 agitator per compartment (total of 4).
    • Compartment 1 & 4: 900 x 1550 x 1500 mm (lxwxh)
    • Compartment 2 & 3: 700 x 1550 x 1500 mm (lxwxh)
  • Motor: 0.75W / 1500 rpm
  • Impeller blade: Rotates at 104 rpm (Axis/impeller blade was an internal project of the customer and no data are available).

Impeller blade speed of 105 rpm.

Zoutman 4

Mixing tank - 25m³

Decanter tank with conical bottom and scraping agitator

Zoutman 6

Sludge tank - 25m³

Medium

Saline sludge with a density of 1500 kg/m³ and a solids content of 50 wt%. A polymer (1000cP, 1000 kg/m³) will be dosed, resulting in a sludge-polymer mixture of 1500 kg/m³ and 1000 cP.

Current installation

  • Tank: 25 m³ (same volume).
  • Impeller blade: Impeller blade at two heights with a diameter of 825 mm at 63 rpm.

Feedback

The original agitator did not mix well enough.

Customer request

The original agitator did not mix well enough, so a double impeller with a diameter of 1300 mm and a speed of 80-90 rpm was requested.
