Reuse of process & brine water (ZOUTMAN)
Purpose
Reuse of process and brine water to increase the production capacity of food grade (food) brines and to minimise their carbon footprint.
Problem-solution
Every year, ZOUTMAN uses about 35,000m³ of water for their production process (at their site in Roeselare). Because raw sea salt contains residues such as sand, shells, etc., it is necessary to rinse the sea salt thoroughly with water.
The installation of the new Ekopak brine plant allows ZOUTMAN to reuse this process water & brine.
We stood in as suppliers for Ekopak and supplied for this installation:
- Various storage tanks and stirring tanks we manufactured in our workshop
- Polymer tank
- 3 double-walled chemical tanks
- Ultrafiltration (UF) concentrate tank
- Flocculatortank
- Decanter tank (with conical bottom and scraping agitator)
- Slibtank
- We also made the cage ladders, walkways and landings in glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP).
Additional challenges?
- All material had to be resistant to ZOUTMAN's corrosive environment.
- Everything was encased in
- A special coating was applied to the motors of the agitators.
